will not listen to me about ivermectin, partly because their doctor swears by it...the same doctor who misdiagnosed my late mother’s lung cancer as reflux

It works both ways. Lots of people are eager to jump and share any trial that shows no effect, while being immediately critical of trials that do show an effect.

A lot of the time it does depend on whether there is a plausible reason for the treatment to work. People were more inclined to believe that Dexamethasone had an effect on inflammation of the lung than HCQ for instance
