People upset about Facebook shutting off pages for the BoM, trade unions and govt agencies: Here's the definition of core news content in the Bill before the Parliament. They're not overreaching or making mistakes, they're responding to the thing the Govt is actually doing.pic.twitter.com/CaKAvWq783

Like, it’s not about who they’d have to pay or what they’d need to pay for. It’s about whether any of this concerns them at all.

I don't see how that tracks. If we accept that the only part of the code Facebook cares about is removing all core news content, they will have to do far more than this

      Maybe they will.

Maybe, but at that point surely they'd just shut down the Australian FB for good? If they really wanted to remove anything that could potentially be considered "core news content", pretty much all pages, groups, and activities would probably have to go

I mean, I have a FB Page for my blog. If they're reacting to two sentences in the bill completely in isolation to the rest of it, mine should definitely go. All MPs also. Famous figures for sure. The list is endless
