The Brazil study used a single dose of 200,000 IU (shown in numerous studies to be barely effective compared wityh daily dosage) - that raised the serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels a little - from poor to inadequate.
Like I said, it's hardly definitive, but it is the largest RCT done on the topic by far

Thank you for this summary! I always wonder whether to read the vitamin D literature. I know there are some legit researchers who believe it has potential in certain settings, but it attracts so many charlatans that I struggle not to dismiss it outright.
