This is inhumane and horrifying. I earnestly hope it proves to be untrue: Fury at ‘do not resuscitate’ notices given to Covid patients with learning disabilitieshttps://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/feb/13/new-do-not-resuscitate-orders-imposed-on-covid-19-patients-with-learning-difficulties …

This is a real problem. People with trisomy 21 are at substantially increased risk of bad outcomes for COVID19, and should be offered the same life saving care as other individuals with similar risks.

Informal DNR orders happen all the time.

Reports of this practice were circulated before.I personally remember seeing the first twitter pics of UK DNROs being pushed on families of autistic children in spring, but couldn't retrieve them&never heard of an enquiry.Has anyone? https://twitter.com/noawitheringly/status/1263522751765192714?s=20 …https://twitter.com/noawitheringly/status/1297927464300285954?s=20 …

In Spring several first person accounts of DNR orders allegedly having been sent to disabled persons -not necessarily older ones- were circulated on Twitter.I'd like to know whether those reports have been confirmed or not,and -if they have been- how common those DNR orders were.

Yes, though they did that in other countries too. I still wonder if we deliberately had a higher number of DNR cases. Still don't understand how we had so many fewer in ICU than in France, Spain or Italy.

Inhumane, horrifying & wrong, @GidMK. Chromosomal/medical conditions that impact learning are not #LearningDisability. #Dyslexia is a LD & has zero impact to #COVID19 risk. NO ONE should have a DNR. But words matter. UK needs to be smarter @ words they use (& policies they make)
