Not shocked at all. Just a bit puzzled that in the absence of such evidence, skepticism is treated like a dirty word. More so because in many instances where practices lack evidence, they are often hard to fix when evidence does come in.

I don't think skepticism is bad per se as long as ppl are also open to following the NPI until shown otherwise. Also randomized trials aren't always needed to show evidence. Nobody conducted such a trial on seatbelts (a somewhat extreme example) yet we still know they work.
