Something that is important to note - despite the somewhat fractious debate about this bad paper, I have not nor will I ever say that closing schools is necessarily a good thinghttps://twitter.com/GidMK/status/1356085063998267398 …

I would also add—and this is outside the realm of public health—that the *harms* aren't fixed. It depends on the population being served and how well the schools do remote teaching. (I'm a parent with kids who are going to remote middle school. They're fine.)

Yes! This is such an important point. (My kids are doing elementary school remotely and they’re fine.) Academic and even social delays can be remedied but death can’t be.

Actually, there is a simple answer: don't let incidence get so high in the first place that you have no choice but to close schools. And: do everything possible to make schools safer (air filters, masks, tests, etc) so they can be open relatively safely.

So we're supposed to go back in time?? Gotcha.

Have we run across a study with adequate proactive testing in children that also showed lower prevalence?

Name one benefit? I love how everyone is turning now and trying to save face. It’s way too late. Your prior responses will live in Twitter forever.
