6 months ago (summer in northern hemisphere) Germany had 6k active cases. Australia today has 1.6k active cases adjusted for population size that's pretty much the same

160, not 1.6k and 0 in community. We had an outbreak of a few hundred cases in one state over our winter, and a lockdown eliminated it.
