I mean, if it's obvious to you, imagine how obvious it probably is to the people who've spent their entire lives dedicated to this field. They may/probably have already considered the thing that you've just thought up

This is not to say that experts are always right, or some other silly pronouncement, but if you think you've solved, say, physics by watching some Youtube videos you might want to stop for a minute and consider the possibility that you are wrong

I am in the impression that loads of unsuccesful trials/studies/tests in many fields of science are not published. Terrible waste of resources if true.

That is definitely true. And referred to as "publication bias" or the "file drawer problem" because nonsignificant results get tossed in the file drawer instead of published.
