I don't find it particularly surprising, but it is depressing. The number of woeful studies on NPIs for COVID-19 is sadly growing every dayhttps://twitter.com/VPrasadMDMPH/status/1352354726839414786 …

It's amazing that we're going to go the entire pandemic, and finish having learned nearly nothing about which non-pharmacologic interventions are beneficial, neutral, detrimental in well done studies.

Plus may reflect the lack of infrastructure for evaluating complex policy or behavioral interventions. We don’t tend to think about that until *after* they’ve been implemented, rather than building in mechanisms for evaluation alongside real world implementation...

Massive #s of health systems globally are creating or using tech-enabled tracking systems for sick at home and post-Covid patients. None of them did A/B tests, even as a niche way to gain market share. That does surprise me a bit.

The industry of Hospital QI has become inundated with poor data and the illusion of progress. It has totally stalled necessary infrastructure development for A/B testing that would deliver true QI.

The worst part is that the precautionary principle that has been the foundation from the start of modern medicine of not intervene unless you are either under a research experiment and/or the benefit can be proven had been thrown through the window.

Not only NPI’s failure, but the entire treatment of #LongHaul & #PostCovid care & those suffering inhumanely with substandard care & gaslighting. The retrospective will not be a good look globally.

This guy blocked me because I called him and a couple others out for their self agrandizing quote of a cynical tweet demonizing Fauci with an out of context media comment he made. He just pretends to be holier than thou.

Prasad is way over his skis. The problem is doing a good study is hard. There are attempts to study but they suffer from confounding variables which make it easy to design the study to confirm a prior belief.

Should have defaulted to 100 years of study on infectious diseases. The 100 years before 2020.
