Something worth noting in the COVID-19 vaccine debate is that, at an individual level, the difference between a 62% effective vaccine that prevents severe disease and a 95% effective vaccine that prevents severe disease is essential nil

I suppose that is the question; is severe disease w/a 62% effective vax erase the risk of death/morbidity. If so, I'd agree the individual outcomes would be similar. That's a big if for a vax that won't eliminate the dz.

Also: Three reasons for lower risk pts to take vaccine: 1) protect themselves 2) protect others 3) end COVID, & all that entails. 1 & 2 important. #3 arguably the most compelling. In which case, opening argument — even from the standpoint of self-interest— weakens some.
