Something worth noting in the COVID-19 vaccine debate is that, at an individual level, the difference between a 62% effective vaccine that prevents severe disease and a 95% effective vaccine that prevents severe disease is essential nil

Obviously, this calculus changes for the most vulnerable people and healthcare workers, but for everyone else at an individual level the specific vaccine you get probably doesn't matter as much as people have been implying

There is a bit of a leap between severe disease and mild/asymptomatic infections? Now, Pfizer had an inclusive definition of severe, but still - a non-severe infection would still equal a harsh flu experience. I haven't had the flu, but I've heard it is not fun at all.

Further backing for former tweet: https://twitter.com/Dr2NisreenAlwan/status/1352328791662751745?s=20 … If one had to buy vaccines, I would personally pay a lot (!) more for a higher efficacy vaccine.
