It's interesting. I found it hard to fathom why professionals were arguing against this in the face of lessons from history where they did work, I remember being slapped down in my view inappropriately in no uncertain terms by some people who should have had a more open mind imo

I think it was in part because some couldn't countenance we would accept the economic and social hit involved, but to me, having watched the experience in Wuhan closely, it felt obvious to me that we weren't going to have a choice
