I think the data does not cover the effect of the new variant on younger people. As per "seeing much younger people being admitted"https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-coronavirus-uk-nurse-concerned-about-nz-response-to-mutant-strain/K4FPLVW7R5VNMYY3VD4NMTIZVM/ …

There is no scientific evidence this is the case. An anecdote from a nurse isn’t data.

It’s ... not a high bar to clear. Influenza deaths in the young are rare enough it takes just few COVID deaths to exceed. The IFR argument doesn’t hold water because it’s a moot comparison in the context of ease of spread and absolute excess infected.

IFR is one number that has no meaning in isolation. Claiming COVID is “like the flu” because of an IFR is like claiming humans are like giraffes because we have the same number of vertebrae in our necks.

Have you looked around at our populations lately? We have made poor lifestyle choices and made the host vulnerable but even then save age YOU control the response of this virus. Heathy fit less obese patients are recovering well. Build the host protect the vulnerable
