GETTING SICK IS NOT A MORAL FAILING

It is exactly the same vibe as "they ate cheeseburgers and now they've got diabetes", it is both more complex than that and totally unreasonable to blame physical illness on someone's moral stance

Agree. It is important however for people who develop symptoms of Covid to do their level best not to spread the infection to other people or groups. Self Isolate immediately Wear a mask if near other people Frequent hand washing.

I know someone that got extremely sick and was hospitalized. She was very careful and practiced all mitigation suggestions. Even worked from home and did not go out except for groceries etc ( she is in her 40s and has diabetes). She got Covid. Nothing is 100% effective yet.

People who blame the patient without knowing the whole story need to be educated more. Masks and distancing DO work. They substantially reduce risk of infection, but nothing is guaranteed.

Totally agree, I'm grossed out by some of the stuff I've seen on this. There is a big stigma around getting and having covid as it is.

Masks offer limited protection for the wearer... it’s mainly to help reduce transmission... people don’t seem to grasp this... you wear masks to help others... not yourself.

Wearing a mask certainly is in one's control.
