One of the things we keep hearing in Canada is that Australia has done well with controlling Covid because it is an island. I keep thinking this is a BS reason. I would like to hear what you think.

I think there is some truth to the idea, because it has made border control easier. That being said, it's one small part of a very comprehensive strategy and given that many places haven't even attempted any border control it's laughable to suggest that's the only difference

“Remote” isn’t inaccurate, at least! I would say, after a fashion, the large Australian cities are so distant to each other the country is nearly a collection of islands - particularly in the sense the borders can be closed between them.

Depends on your definition of remote I'd argue! For a country of 25 mil we have a pretty decent amount of international travel
