Also, again for the "casedemic" denialists/conspiracists: 222,000 tests, 103 positive results. If every result is a false positive (obviously untrue), then the FP rate in NSW is ~0.046%https://twitter.com/GidMK/status/1342261124738084864 …

Ok, this is getting ridiculously impressive That's 3% of the entire state of New South Wales tested for COVID-19 in 7 days 👀👀👀 https://twitter.com/migga/status/1342259377701486594 …

Except, we've actually had no confirmed false positives this week (and many people are retested, so we'd know), which means that the TRUE false positive rate is MAXIMUM 0.00004% and probably lower than that Merry Christmas!

"But what about CT cycles 🤪🤪🤪" This is simple maths, no reliance on anything but the basic numbers and long division 👍

Excuse my ignorance, but what are CT cycles?

No trouble! The real time PCR works on exponential amplification of a small fragment of RNA for the coronavirus spike protein. Obviously that RNA is a small molecule in a small sample so is amplified exponentially to get to a point where it reliably makes a fluorescent signal.

I had to test (PCR) weekly bc of a cross-border partnership. Tested positive one week (E-gene CT 37, nothing for N-gene) and was quarantined. Tested negative 5 days later. Hardly any symptoms. Negative antibody test 4 weeks later. False positive?

You don't seem to have answered the question. How many cycles were used in the tests carried out in NSW? If it is the same number of cycles as used the UK, for example, you have a point.

If it's lower, it would indicate to me that the NSW administration are looking for a result to the UK test administrators.
