don't Australia engage in genomic sampling of influenza? Surely can easily tell if anomalous season was flu or not...
Let's ask the locals. Pattern is anomalous that is for sure. @GidMK
This is a question for @MackayIM, but yes 2019 was a very bad flu year here I believe
2017 and the 2019 (#flunami) #flu seasons were indeed influenza seasons driven by influenza viruses that were genomically and serologically classified. This is not in question. Anyone saying otherwise is just wrong
Awesome where can I get the raw data of the tests performed and sequencing. Would be very interested into taking a look.
Sequence is available through @gisaid or GenBank. Raw data? If you check out jurisdictional public health websites for those years you'll find flu reports with a spectrum of data. What are you after exactly?
Series of clinically confirmed vs total reported. In both death and reported ili like notifications. Hospitalizations not so interesting, but if it is there I won't object.
Confirmed/reported mean PCR positive. Not sure if there are separate breakdowns anywhere because we don't report a case just on S&S in Aus AFAIK
Pretty sure that's correct, while sometimes there is a report on estimated cases there's no yearly standardised measure
