Most of them probably don’t know what PCR stands for, how the test actually works and what is involved in doing it or they would know their criticisms are bunk. (Coming from someone who has run PCR assays and who has to understand them for their job).

I have done PCR, know how it works, but still had to look up cycle thresholds to understand that aspect, and I don't understand all the technicalities. Yet somehow these armchair experts knowingly tell you all about how there are huge numbers false positives.

It seems to be that they think that PCR was invented and then sat on a shelf in a Raiders of the Lost Ark-esque warehouse somewhere until they rolled it out especially for SARS-CoV-2
like STI testing using PCR isn't a thing and they get upset when you point that out -
I had one person tell me re PCR that "It says on the box "Not to be used for diagnostic purposes".
