Science is so self-correcting that you can point out obvious numeric mistakes in a paper and the editor will tell you that they don't care and won't retract it no matter what

In a sense, those blathering on about "academic silencing" have a point- it's true that even though there are innumerable papers bad enough to be retracted, it takes enormous amounts of negative press before a journal will consider it because bottom line they do not care
