For those who made fun of the "gold standard", I'd be interested to know of anywhere in the world that ramped up testing by 8x and went from R(t) ~1.4 to R(t)<~1 in THREE DAYS

38,000 tests in one day. That's 5 tests for every 1,000 people in the state in 24 hours!

Important to note - still possible that cases will climb, and we obviously need to stay vigilant, but many of us were worried that numbers would double but instead they have halved even though testing increased hugely

Some pretty impressive context to add here is that NSW did 107,000 tests in the 6 days prior to Sunday, so as of 8pm last night 1 in 50 people in the entire state got tested last week

Suppose everyone present at Avalon Beach RSL on Dec 11 became infected. They may show symptoms, test positive, and become infectious within 14 days - up to Dec 25. Today is 10 days later. Most of first round have now shown up. The next round hasn't begun yet.
