The difficulty in picking though all this may lie in avoiding the temptation to just tear through one or two particular papers, enumerating everything that one would or should have done differently if one had more time/resources/standing, vs. trying to assess the totality.

Well, I have actually had a read of the first of those and even from a brief skim it appears to mischaracterize observational evidence as RCTs and not adequately represent the state of the evidence
