Canada just announced it’ll provide the new Covid vaccine to every Canadian who wants it — for free. Canada has ordered more vaccines per capita than any other nation. They’re planning to donate excess supply to impoverished countries. Humanity.🌎❤️🇨🇦 pic.twitter.com/cboLj3tkx6

Hungary ordered 17 million doses for a population of 10 million, and it will be free for anyone requesting it. Distribution will be scheduled based on risk. Vaccine will not be mandatory (my hopes: not yet).

But most vaccines require two shots? Meaning 17 mln is not enough for 10 mln population.

Some context, though: I’ve never had to pay for a vaccine in Canada. This isn’t special to this vaccine, and is what I’ve been expecting all along. (It’s possible to pay for, say, the shingles vaccine if you’re under 50 and desperately want it now & not later, but it’s unusual.)

In this case, our system is different. For childhood vaccination, we have mandatory (free, like MMR), recommended (free, chickenpox was in this category, but now it is also mandatory) and available (you pay for it, like Rotavirus). continued

While in the US, the President and his party spent the entire year denying science but benefit from science and subsidized medicine that leaves citizens bankrupt but he gets for free. Then, when the vaccine comes out he lies about being thanks to him. And some people cheer 🤷

Some countries seem to have stopped differentiating between expenses and investments. Thankfully, not all.

The same may be true with the recommendation from this group of highly regarded physicians. Yet is not being talked about. It's probably even more cost saving than vaccines and can be implemented now. Of course you can change that...https://covid19criticalcare.com/

Lots of countries don't need to announce not charging their people for any vaccine.
