Will it be right to say that intermediate range journals with impact between 3-10 are doing a better job? Especially the ones who are around for may be half a century?

The important thing is that the errors are publicly corrected. Yes, errors are unfortunate and most errors in those journals are errors of haste and misunderstanding, as opposed to intentional errors. This is what science is all about: continuous correction of knowledge.
