Journals that I've personally seen publish papers with obvious errors in them during 2020: JAMA JAMA Open NEJM BMJ BMJ EBM Lancet Nature Nature Scientific Reports PNAS Etc...https://twitter.com/Constababble/status/1337856650963603456 …

Given the trash we have seen in there, I wouldn't worry if your paper wasn't accepted to Nature.

The mistakes I'm describing here range from completely inappropriate statistical analysis (think undergrad level issues), to maths errors, to outright fraud and everything in between Published in the top journals in the world I've got a file full of them

That’s a long list. Also, it doesn’t include some real howlers. Quite a year.

Will it be right to say that intermediate range journals with impact between 3-10 are doing a better job? Especially the ones who are around for may be half a century?

The important thing is that the errors are publicly corrected. Yes, errors are unfortunate and most errors in those journals are errors of haste and misunderstanding, as opposed to intentional errors. This is what science is all about: continuous correction of knowledge.

The peer review process really needs to be strengthened, across science. It's pitiful.

Wouldn't it be good for (future) readers of those papers to be made aware of those errors? https://pubpeer.com/static/faq#31
