Always good to normalize changing your opinion based on new evidence. What have you been wrong about this year? For me - that travel bans would have little impact during an epidemic. This was based on the best evidence at the time, and wasn't exactly accurate!

More specifically, I think that the early travel bans implemented in March (esp. those specific to China) probably ~didn't~ impact the spread of COVID-19 very much...

...that being said, the initial outbreak of COVID-19 aside, there is clearly a place for travel restrictions in LONG-TERM control of the disease, which is something that I definitely did not consider at the time

Very early on in the pandemic, I was legitimately optimistic about hydroxychloroquine. 😳 In the absence of other agents, there was a good mechanism, in-vitro data, and word-on-the-street-level evidenced from China that it was helping. Didn't quite pan out.

LOL, same. It's pretty amazing how except for "Dex" no repurposed drug had a big effect. I had high hopes for lopinavir-ritonavir and nope.

Yeah I think those crazy, boomerang fling'in, and Kangaroo riding guys did a good job with their travel restrictions....

So when there's barely any transmission in the community you shouldn't restrict travel, but when there's a lot of transmission you should? Go figure.

I made pretty masks, but only happened to use good fabric for them because that is what I had. I made one mask out of T-shirt fabric and later read up on fabrics and viruses. That mask had to go.

Something that I didn't think about before all this is how blasé we are about influenza. We take no infection control measures against it all. In fact, it has become viewed as normal to allow it to kill 12k ish a year. We should change that.
