Sturgis Motorcycle Rally? https://khn.org/morning-breakout/sturgis-biker-rally-linked-to-260000-covid-cases/ … Was the event that killed Herman Cain an indoor or outdoor event? Can't recall.

Thanks - by superspreading I mean spread from one person to many people The motorcycle rally was 460,000 people over 10 days (and I believe a mix of outdoor and indoor interaction), so not surprising it would lead to many cases - but did one person spread to many outdoors?

Haha! That’s definitely a different question! And on the whole seems harder to answer because of the evidence I imagine you would need. Maybe @CT_Bergstrom @GidMK @Merz @joel_c_miller or @MackayIM may have an example off the cuff?

I read the paper, and I don't think it would be easy/possible to differentiate the two. That being said, we know from other investigations that the biggest transmission risks are indoors, so I'd guess the actual rally itself was not the worst part...

...It's a bit like the beach question I was asked a month or two ago. I reckon beaches are extremely safe places to be wrt COVID, but getting to/from, and the amenities AT the beach are not. Complex

Or sitting at an outdoor tennis court - the ventilation may be good but if the person sitting behind you is breathing directly over you for a couple of hours and they're infected..... and you have to go to the inside toilets that 1000's of people are using, covered walkways...
