Probably the fastest way to get levels up rapidly. Hard to be deficient after that.

And to be fair, other vit D/COVID-19 trials have had similar dosing schedules paced out over 1 week. Would it make such a huge difference clinically to give as a single larger dose?

Probably not. More convenient with sick patients too. They probably have enough else to deal with each day.

I’ve read receptors shut down when given masssive doses of cholecalciferol — so it has opposite effect. The large study should have replicated the same doses of active form - calcifediol - of the successful Spanish trial. Almost Like they wanted it to fail :(

That just makes absolutely no sense at all. The Spanish trial completed on July 28th, while the Brazilian study started June 2nd. You're arguing that since they didn't invent time travel they didn't want to do good research

Ok. Sorry. My bad. I didn’t check the dates. So- what we really need is a LARGE trial based on the dosages & form (calcifediol) used in Spanish study that had excellent results- or just start asking for it for loved ones!

They have finished recruiting their 1,000 person sample, so presumably they'll publish the results at some point. The 76 person publication was actually just their pilot data, despite the weird hype about it

Oh okay. That’s good! I didn’t realize they were doing a 1,000 person study. I figured the hype about the pilot study was to try to get funding for a larger study & didn’t know they already had it. Thanks!
