I think most have made the claim the lack of vitamin d tends to lead to more severe outcome of covid. More of a prophylactic than an acute treatment.

Nah - just like HCQ, every claim imaginable has been made for vit D. It's the perfect treatment that works in every situation according to some

I wouldn't rule out that Vitamin D is generally helpful to immune systems in those with Vitamin D deficiency and could be part of a treatment regimen where a number of helpful things are done.

Why does no one consider that it’s not the vitamin D deficiency, but what’s causing the vitamin D deficiency that’s leading to worse outcomes in deficient patients, just like the many with autoimmune disease who are vitamin D deficient. Has no therapeutic effect for them either.
