You put together a big enough data set you're going to get weird associations. Asthma result is likely due to unmeasured behavioral/pop differences between asthma pop and non-asthma pop, not the meds. My $.02.
Yeh I pretty much agree. 50k people is enough to throw up all sorts of spurious associations
