They made movies about Bletchley Park, and it was pretty much meetings, phone calls, staring at bits of paper, and waiting for big honking mechanical computers to finish.

Yes, but fortunately the public health authoritarians have been largely ignored, giving a huge boost to the funeral home, cremation, and tombstone industries. Plenty of jobs there, and undertakers have never been in such high demand.
