That's a bit silly. "Silenced" is a strawman. There was a concerted effort to discredit his input driven by political leanings.

I reckon he got the strenuous criticism he deserved. He made early calls on severity which looked wrong at the time and now look very wrong, put his name to a v.questionable study to back that up, and since then has been continuing to try to justify it. Pretty ordinary

'Mean emails & tweets' seems like making light of what can be serious. I've no way of knowing the extent & volume, but people imprisoned at times for it & it can damage mental health. That has surely stifled some debate & makes me question how fringe his opinions really are
