Thank you. Question: Is COVID really 10x more lethal than the flu? Recent stats suggest that's an exaggeration. There's would be 300K to 800K dead in the US already. Isn't it more accurate to say 3-5x as bad--serious but not catastrophic?
Hard to compare those figures. 30-80k are ESTIMATED to have died from influenza using ICD-10 codes and modelling. Influenza also 20-50% asymptomatic/mild, so more cases than you've got there. Thank you! I wish the article was a little more current; it's based on about 4 mos of data, six weeks of which COVID was unmitigated, nursing homes with atypical patients led the caseload, and there was no consensus on treatment. All of that has changed. But I get the gist.
