@GidMK I asked if on acct of all the excess deaths skewed to people over age 80, avg life expectancy might paradoxically go up this year. You said no, that's not how it's calculated. Can i ask how it is calculated if not an average age of all that died excluding infant mortality.
Because it's calculated as an average of all years lived. So if people only live to 80 (because everyone over 80 dies), then the average will drop as many people still die in their 20s and 30s

OK, but if suddenly everyone over 80 died at once for that single year wouldn't the LE calc for that year be a much higher number, then back down lower than before for all subsequent years?
