You do have to wonder what the people who have been championing a Swedish policy for Australia will say now that their level of restrictions is far more burdensome than ours

Sad but predictable. I thought we were the really stupid ones but apparently Sweden has some "public health" people at the top who are as stupid as scott atlas. (public health is in quotes because, as a public health professional, I don't view them as real public health experts).

As before we cannot tell what the best solution was until after the pandemic. We have almost had the same recommendations during the entire pandemic but it was now the numbers raised. I think that many of us have been sloppy lately and that's the case of the change.

Actually, nothing to see here. I learned to not trust any source outside of Sweden about Sweden news :) ... Any regulation whatsoever for 'private gatherings' which is like everything besides a very narrow definition is protected by their constitution.https://www.thelocal.se/20201116/explained-what-does-swedens-new-limit-on-public-events-actually-mean …

This is true, but according to the public health agency website there are now regulations on restaurants, and the limits apply to public gatherings which is quite broad and includes sporting events and the like

Sweden's philosophy was never "do nothing." It was "do only what is necessary; watch the data." Moving to tighter restrictions now shows that is exactly what they are doing. Many of us would kill to have only a limit on gatherings rather than our kids shut out of school.

I'm guessing they think the public is more amenable to tighter restrictions because a vaccine isn't as far off.

Why? I thought they had herd immunity. No? Just made up? Thought so.

Most Swedish regions already advised against: *all* physical contact with those outside your household non-essential shopping, museums, gyms, swimming pools, libraries non-medical health+beauty treatments all social contact for old and vulnerablehttps://www.folkhalsomyndigheten.se/smittskydd-beredskap/utbrott/aktuella-utbrott/covid-19/lokala-allmanna-rad/ …

Why can’t we be like Sweden, they said.

As soon as I saw Kevin Corbett promoting Sweden’s policy I just knew it would all go wrong
