One thing I'm finding increasingly interesting is how many people will argue that lockdowns kill without citing any evidence at all that this is the case

Good examples,
@moledroid, and follow-up question@GidMK! A few speculations on my part, for which I've seen some evidence, but thinking it can be difficult to tease out diffs v. baselines?https://twitter.com/aronro/status/1259911134041108482 … - Show replies

I don't know, it depends how you define those headings, especially given that the epidemic caused the lockdowns. I expect that more research is needed to answer your question. But I'd be surprised if there were no deaths due to lockdown. Lockdown causes other problems too.

I tried to admit a couple of people with chest pain in April. They wouldn't go to A&E because they knew there was a lot of COVID at the hospital. They preferred to take their chances at home. I don't believe it was lockdown per se that put people off attending A&E, more the virus

From what I read it seems people are delaying seeking help during the pandemic which has nothing to do with lockdowns.

I think that is also changing now that we know the effects COVID has on the circulatory system and that it can cause heart and lung failure.

Conceptually add excess deaths. Subtract deaths from people not seeking help due to virus rather than lockdown. Compare to deaths that result due to out of control virus overwhelming hospitals. Add extra deaths due to rampant COVID. Number due purely to restrictions quite small.
