In Australia, we can actually see the numbers wonderfully clearly due to the very low numbers. We ran 600,000 tests in October in NSW, of which ~220 were positive. Since everyone IS retested here, we can quite confidently work out the false positive rate https://data.nsw.gov.au/nsw-covid-19-data …

We had a single false positive in that time. So roughly 1 false positive per 600,000 tests, or a specificity of 99.9994%. Now, you could argue that labs are more overwhelmed in the UK, and so there's more cross-contamination, but that REQUIRES MORE CASES
