Agree this is poorly done & reported. Searched 1 database; included/pooled 1 non-RCT with 3 RCTs; total of 296 patients looking at surrogate endpoints; pooled used SMD rather than Wt, BSL, HbA1c (which they could have reported); etc etc

It gets worse - they didn't extract mean differences, they simply took post values. So they aggregated, for example, weight rather than weight loss
