It's hard to tell - wouldn't it be more about their attitude than their biological depression? Vegetarians may be depressed about seeing animals killed or feel like they don't have enough access to more convenient food? I dunno.

I'm still going through the paper - the issues with defining diets, including definitions of 'vegetarian' diets, is always an issue with dietary studies

Yeh you can kind of see that in the meta-analysis as well - very high heterogeneity, I'd assume because the studies are pretty different to one another!
