By my very rough estimation, somewhere around 1 in 6 people in the United States have had COVID-19, and nearly 1 in 1,000 people in the whole country has died of the disease And yet people still voted for the guy in charge W I L D

Wait you estimate about 15% of the US has had Covid?

Somewhere around that. Might be as low as 12%, could be as high as 20% nowhttps://twitter.com/GidMK/status/1321661890301366272?s=20 …

A thought I've been having a lot recently - everyone says that waves 2 & 3 of COVID-19 have been markedly different from the first This is often used to support the idea that COVID-19 is getting less deadly But is it true? 1/n

Fuck. I've been surprised at the lack of well sampled serosurveys in recent months after people were so gung ho in the early months.

Honestly, I've been pretty shocked at the lack of good serosurveys from the US, especially considering that everywhere from Pakistan to Slovenia have done one by now!

everything is shocking, and political, in US right now. It is insane. Many think it is 100% about PH VS the economy - like they are diametrically opposed. They also somehow have decided their "rights" to do what the want include causing danger to others. Sigh.

We have had confusing and inconsistent health comms. People really don't understand about transmission, risk, quarantine, contract tracing. etc. I suspect US covid stories are bigger news in other countries than ours. It isn't even the lead on our local news each night..
