I agree with you! Let’s say a lab in NSW processes 1000 samples per day with a positivity rate of 0.1%. A lab in Florida processes 2000 samples a day with a positivity rate of 50%. The risk of contamination would be much higher in the busier Florida lab with more positive samples
To clarify, even with contamination the chance of a non infected person getting a +ve result is small. I was just suggesting you can’t compare the figures from NSW (low community transmission) with areas with high transmission because of increased risk of contamination there.
