Greetings from Sweden, some facts: herd immunity never part of strategy, we have had the same measures in place with small changes since March.Tired of desinformation by different sides of US politics, most Swedes support Biden but for pandemic we do our thing.Current deaths+ICU:pic.twitter.com/BTGsSFG9tL

I find that interesting, because while herd immunity may never have been an explicit goal of the strategy, Tegnell was absolutely using it as a welcome and likely end point in April by May

Mindblowing levels of desinformation with quotes taken out of context, strategy is risk-based mitigation to protect healthcare+vulnerable. Why close high schools and universities this spring if goal was HI ASAP? It is sad how many from left/right use SWE to score political points.

Worth noting that Tegnell himself predicted that Sweden would reach "herd immunity" by mid-May originally, until serology studies proved that this was wrong pic.twitter.com/AMB4e6JChz

Discussing a potential effect of immunity (could be small or large) is not the same as strategy to achieve HI ASAP.The amount of op-ed pieces from mostly US/UK pundits with zero knowledge of situation in Sweden is mindboggling, you’d think they have some work to do closer to home?

Right, but as I said while it may never have been an explicit end goal it was certainly anticipated and considered a likely outcome of the policy

That some level of immunity would affect the spread yes, anything else surprising. But there are also quotes from Tegnell saying we’ll never reach HI without a vaccine.Fact is,our risk based strategy, neither ”let it rip” nor ”lockdown”,while not perfect,is a popular strategy here .pic.twitter.com/7ct9zbOQgL

So did Tegnell's counterparts in other Nordic countries. If you speak Scandinavian, you can easily find interviews from Finland/Norway/Denmark echoing the same sentiment.

Well, Tegnell clearly changed his tune recently...
