You're not really an epidemiologist until you've mixed up sensitivity and specificity in a professional context and had to quickly Google which is which on your phone

This is one that being a practicing emergency physician had drilled into me already. But I’ve had my own version of this kind of thing that I’m not even gonna admit in public.

I've ~written studies~ looking at the sensitivity and specificity of diabetes testing in ED, and yet somehow it took a pandemic to actually fix the terms permanently in my brain I still sometimes get it wrong

The sensitivity/specificity flash card is always the last thing I look at before walking into a board exam.

Specifically sensitive about 2020, or just sensitive about specific aspects of 2020?

What’s you tip? Sensitivity - avoids a miss Specificity - avoids a mix-up. Needs some work Please help:)

Sensitivity - "it sensed a truly positive case" Specificity is badly named, I always mix it with false positive rate (FPR) when it is in fact its complementary (1-FPR). "True Positive Rate" and "True Negative Rate" are great alternatives
