I have a PBS question for doctors: is it possible to access a script for doxycyline under PBS for a reason that isn’t bronchitis or acne? https://m.pbs.gov.au/medicine/item/2711Q-3321T-2702F-2709N-2714W.html …

I suspect the issue here is simply that there are so many formulations for doxy and they all have different restrictions - the 100mg tablet has two unrestricted codes it seems https://www.pbs.gov.au/medicine/item/10779H-10781K-2702F-2709N-2714W-3321T-5082L-9105F-9107H-9108J …

Problem is the 100mg is hard to cut. For anti-inflammatory purposes a low dose is better

For bats I grind tablets up and suspend in honey/ water/ juice as required. It’s not perfect but can give a reasonable effective dose. Always shake before use. No idea what it tastes like

I don’t love the idea of self-compounding

I love the idea of the bats...but also not self compounding. I wonder if a compounding pharmacy would be able to help you though? You could ring to ask advice?

They can help - it’s just the PBS access that’s an issue. Currently have to pay out of pocket
