I don’t share your remdesivir optimism. Why has Gilead not released the proper 28 day results? Why did they compare the treatment group to an ‘historical cohort’? I understand people using it, but let’s agree the evidence is THIN.

The pivotal study was published in the NEJM. Is this the study that you are criticizing? It was a double blinded randomized study. They did not compare to a historical cohort.https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2007764 …

Yeah- this is the preliminary report. Not all the patients were at 28 days yet. Where is that data? As far as I recall, Gilead never released it and instead compared it to an ‘historical cohort’.pic.twitter.com/uUSSjJBFLa

Which study is this? The study that I refer to is https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2007764 … number: NCT04280705. It is this study that earned the emergency approval. Is this the study that you are referring to?

And if I’m not mistaken, we never got the full data. Gilead released some gobbledygook about comparisons with ‘standard of care’, but we never saw the completed data for the study above at 28 days. And you better believe if it was good, Gilead woulda sung it from the rooftops.

Blame @mikejohansenmd for this one, I haven't checked the numbers myself and there may be other studies out there!

Pretty standard regression to the mean, and the only positive data coming from the press release version...i repeat, shenanigans.
