This is very silly. The sample is thrice-selected: a single company, that tested volunteers, and only retested a small subset. A recent large-scale random serosurvey in Tokyo found rates of infection 100x lower than thishttps://twitter.com/MLevitt_NP2013/status/1308979101215096834 …

If representative as it seems, this antibody survey of 1,877 random healthy people in Japan is a total game-changing event. Read conclusion below: immunity without illness or death! can you link to the large random serosurvey in Tokyo? how do you get almost 50% seroprevalence in ANY group in Tokyo given the low number of cases detected? There must be more going on here than the fact that these were workers at 1 company. I mean...was it a meat-packing plant?

Yep, here it is https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/newpage_11892.html … Pretty easily, you just need one outbreak in the company because the 47% figure is based on 29 positive results out of 62

Another way to count would be 140 out of 350 resulting in 40 %. But the sample is the issue and its lack of representativity. Easy to control though...

I have just seen that the representative data are much older than those in the preprint. Would still need a lot of phantasy to explain the delta...

Read the discussion. The sample was drawn from multiple disparate locations in Tokyo minimizing clustering - so not “one outbreak”. Also you forgot the 4th selection filter - they were asymptomatic which is going to underestimate not overestimate seroprevalence cc @AndrewCAhn2
