As a resident of NSW, have to say this is a remarkable achievement. Well done @NSWHealth!https://twitter.com/CaseyBriggs/status/1308210768194596866 …

Worth noting that this is just one day, chances are there's still ~some~ local transmission, but to have the numbers go from doubling within a week to 0 is still quite impressive!

Also worth pointing out that being able to do this is not surprising - South Korea has done it (twice!) and other places as well

They've done well, but lots particularly here in Vic Andres supporters don't believe the numbers - but its hard to cover, if numbers were increasing as they were here, you'd be seeing hospital, ICU, ventilator, death numbers/funerals going up considering how long its been

As a professional epidemiologist I find it vanishingly unlikely that there is a hidden epidemic in NSW right now. It is not entirely out of the bounds of possibility, but the most likely explanation for reported cases being low is that there are few cases

Not really, there was a base of no transmission, then the Vic outbreak spread here, with increasing numbers of local transmission, and now the transmissions are back down to 0 locally (at least for 1 day)

This is the important thing. Being able to keep control and reduce spread without shutting everything down is critical Once again, follow E Asian nations (& some in Europe) for best practice and avoid hyper partisan BS and stop-start policy that destroys health and $
