It is incredibly frustrating to see people using low death rates from COVID-19 in younger age groups to argue that we can relax all restrictions as long as we protect the elderly without putting forward CONCRETE PROPOSALS about how to do that 1/n

8/n And, of course, this is ignoring any impacts aside from death If there are substantial chronic impacts in the younger population - a definite possibility - then the situation gets even more complicated

9/n I've written about potential long-term impacts even for young people, they are a real worry and potentially enormously problematic even if the death rate is lowhttps://www.theguardian.com/world/commentisfree/2020/jul/13/as-covid-19-persists-around-the-world-death-is-not-the-only-outcome-to-fear …

yep, 7 people died as a result of a wedding super-spreader event in Maine. none of those 7 people attended the wedding.https://www.boston.com/news/local-news/2020/09/15/maine-wedding-7-coronavirus-deaths …

6 people at the rehab center alone is heartbreaking. That's a sextuple homicide IMO. And the person who killed them was ostensibly/originally dedicated at some level to helping people. That story alone should change minds... but it won't.

Really? I thought that would do the trick, just as

Great take as usual. They chatter about protecting the vulnerable, but cannot even answer "What about 55-year-old teachers/drivers/aides?" Maybe they throw out something about furloughs, which implies a hiring program too. But make *zero moves* to make that a reality.

Are the apparent much lower CFR’s that we’re seeing in places like Spain and France as cases surge again due to better protection of the vulnerable? Or is it another explanation (more comprehensive testing?).pic.twitter.com/BTzfoG4LoE

It is extremely hard to compare the CFR from early this year to now, due to the testing differences. Always look at the denominator!
