Podcasts. I have some I reserve just for running. I put them on and listen until I hit my distance. Or really hard intervals. There's also an app where you pretend you're chased by zombies, but I haven't tried it.

Well... It is boring. Podcasts are nice. Good music can make it more fun. Trail running and city running each have their share of interesting features/distractions. It's also kind of fun to do intervals or some structure with a different effort level every few minutes
