Dunno if I'd agree that's what's happening tho. Nepal, for example, is doing terribly, for example, while Slovenia and Lithuania who are rarely mentioned have done spectacular jobs

Some of the greatest success stories - Taiwan, SK, Vietnam - are in Asia, but so are some of the worst ones - Phillipines, India, Indonesia

I was specifically talking about Taiwan -- they nailed it. But yeah it's a good point about the region. I wonder if on average Asia did very differently. Still feel like we aren't even trying to learn the lessons from Asia as much as other western countries.

Maybe, but I'm not sure that's entirely true. I think SK has been for a long time a roadmap for success for a lot of places. Taiwan maybe not so much, but that's also a political issue for governments to acknowledge
