Is science self correcting?

In astronomy, much of our science is focused finding and minimizing errors -- solar neutrino problem, gravitational waves, accelerating expansion of universe. Minor errors are common, uncorrected, and usually ignored and not propogated into the future.

I do find it a bit funny that when I tell people that there are numerous studies published in major medical journals filled with mistakes they usually don't believe me until I start sending them examples
