My new piece on the absurd claim that "only 6%" of COVID-19 deaths are attributable to the disease itself It's more like 95% or more! ping @MackayIM @angie_rasmussen @CaulfieldTimhttps://medium.com/@gidmk/covid-19-deaths-are-mostly-caused-by-coronavirus-2a6d2d43bd09 …

Could quite easily be that > 100 % of documented covid deaths are due to covid, particularly in US, UK, and many developing nations.

I am a MD elderly care. Mortality in 80+ is multifactorial caused by multiple morbid conditions. Covid-19 will be the direct cause of death, the underlying cause of death will be an age related disorder. Vital statistics count the underlying, not the direct causes.

Underlying cause of death is somewhat arbitrary when there are multiple concurrent conditions. We should always look at excess total mortality if possible, as noted in the end of the article.

Taking Occam's Razor to this still results in being correct enough to satisfy a margin of error.

This is confirmed by 154 autopsies carried out in Germany: « In more than three quarters of the autopsies, the COVID-19 disease was documented as the major or sole disease leading to death » (source: https://www.aerzteblatt.de/nachrichten/115799/COVID-19-bei-Mehrzahl-der-Betroffenen-auch-die-Todesursache …)

You can’t “spin” deaths by COVID-19. I have COPD. I am not dying from COPD. If I get COVID-19 and die, I will die from COVID-19. Easy to understand.

Soooo, your saying people who had diabetes, respiratory problems, pneumonia, etc, Before they got Covid, are not dying more often from Covid than healthy people with Covid?? Total nonsense article.
